Black Mold: Snow Blindness is Crystal Antz
Yes, you saw correctly. There is a song called "Smoking Rat Shit" on this album.
"Black Mold" is the name of Chad VanGaalen's experimental project. Yes, it's an "experimental" album from Chad VanGaalen. It's definitely one of the most unique things in my collection. "Metal Spider Webs" sounds like a "Chad VanGaalen" song, but without vocals. After the first song you're like "Okay, this sounds pretty rad.". Then you hear "Dr. Snouth", which I think is an elevator sound effect from a video game played over and over and over again. It's still kind of cool to listen to because it's not offensive and sounds kind of neat, but yeah, wow.
For the most part this album is electronic music, but there are some acoustic instruments as well (not much though). Knowing Chad VanGaalen, all these sounds are probably composed from some old disassembled 1970s synthesizer. It's all so crazy it reminds me a lot of Aphex Twin, not so much in how it sounds, but just in the weird combination of complexity and simplicity in the sounds and the songs themselves.
I may have given the wrong impression to start, but this album is very listenable and actually really catchy. You'll just want headphones. Otherwise you will probably get a lot of weird looks from anyone nearby.
