Amelia Curran: Hunter Hunter

I'm feeling a bit lazy, so I think I'm just going to borrow a line from the National Post that was up on Wikipedia, particularly because I think they hit the nail square on the head.

“a bit like Leonard Cohen being channeled in a dusty saloon by Patsy Cline.”

So there you go. The whole album is solid, the lyrics are clever and soulful, and Amelia herself has no shortage of talent. I'm really surprised that this album isn't seeing more circulation on Canadian radio. This is some damn good CanCon.

"Hunter Hunter" is some excellent country-flavoured folk, and is best listened to when you have some real time to devote to it. I don't want to steal the experience, so I'll try to dig up some clear YouTube videos and let you form your own opinions. This might be tough, because when I looked for videos of Amelia earlier they weren't terribly easy to find...

Ah! Here are some videos!

By the way, she won the Juno.
