I'm not a gun: We think as instruments

"I'm not a gun" is a collaborative project between John Tejada and Takeshi Nishimoto. If you haven't heard of these guys before, don't worry. I think they're mostly famous for their work in Germany so...if you haven't been to Berlin lately you may not have heard of them individually.

John Tejada is a producer out of Germany, and if this album is any indication, he's pretty damn good at his job. Takeshi Nishimoto is a classical guitarist, and he is most definitely of world-class skill.

"I'm not a gun" is an incredible mix of electronica and classical instrumentals. Unlike other groups that mix the electronica and classical, they don't seem to put excessive weight on either one of the other. I wouldn't say this is an electronica album, but at the same time I don't think they could pull off the same effect without the electronic production used in parallel with the instrumentals.

The album itself is some very ambient, somewhat jazzy electronica that sounds at first like something from Hans-Peter Lindstrom and Prins Thomas, but quickly differentiates itself through the absolutely excellent instrumentals. The instrumentals themselves are constantly clear and coherent amidst the electronic production, and the two work as a complementary pair to create a really amazing result without all the stepping-on-toes that can come from excessive post-production.

Overall it's a really pleasant, ambient and lovely album. An absolute joy to listen to.
