The Budos Band: II
The Budos Band is another incredible group coming from New York's Daptone Records. If you see a record with the Daptone label on it, just buy it. Seriously, you won't regret it. These guys can do no wrong.
The Budos Band itself is composed of approximately one million people who play drums, bass guitar, electric guitar, farfisa electric organ, baritone sax, 2 trumpets, a tenor sax, a flute, a cowbell (the cowbell player is a bit of a divo), clave, 2 tambourines, a shekere, 2 congas and a bongo. You're going to listen to this and be like "Naw, that's all done with a computer mixer and samples." and I'm like "Nuh uh, this is LIVE.", then you're like "Holy shit!!"
I know this because I have tickets to see these guys next week. Am I excited? YES!!!!!!!!!!!
This is funk a mile deep. These guys make the Apples look like the Lemons. This is funk that you wade through with wellington boots. The album "II" is obviously the second Budos Band album, and I think it is so named because it contains all the burgeoning funk that could not be contained on one single album. If you listen to this for too long it will drive you into a funk-induced insanity. I know, because I've experienced it firsthand o__O
